Live For Today

So this is my first tattoo.. I got it on my twentieth birthday; August, 14th. :)

This tattoo, on my back between my shoulders, was a quick idea, but it stood for so much when I saw it (and still does of course).

I haven't been able to put my thoughts or reasons behind this tattoo into words since I got it. There were many things it stood for, but it seemed like they would only make sense to me. Which is just fine really, but after looking at this picture again, I finally decided to write it down. I think mainly because I need to remind myself...

When I got this, it was a symbol of a fresh start. Being it was my birthday, it was a new year, a month or so of being single after a year and a half relationship. Just time for a change. By finally popping my tattoo cherry, I was hoping to invent a new me. To get out of the funk my ex put me in and the depression I had begun to slip into and was trying so desperately to prevent.

The saying "live for today" is a reminder to myself that I just need to live life one day at a time. And that life is too precious to let depression or anything else get in the way of happiness and all that life has to offer. The wings represent that my heart will always be somewhere else, because I am a dreamer, the creative type, the one that always wants to be somewhere else. And at the time, I just wanted to fly, to get away, even just for a moment.

TWLOHA (To Write Love On Her Arms) also had a big part in my inspiration for this tattoo. Ever since I learned about them, I have learned that depression doesn't have to run your life, and I'm done letting it.

It is also a reminder of my own strength and what I have dealt with and persevered through. It is a reminder that I was strong enough to get past my own demons, and that I have the strength to help others as well.

It has been years since I've been depressed or thought of suicide, and this is a reminder to me during tough times that "I can make it through anything."

It is a reminder that we shouldn't regret yesterday, and we're not promised tomorrow, so let's live for today.

"Don't Quote Me.."

There is no person in the world who is made to handle every punch that`s thrown at them. We aren`t made that way. In fact, we`re made to get mad, upset, sad, be hurt, stumble & fall. We aren`t supposed to be able to handle everything. But that`s what makes us stronger in the end, by learning from the things that hurt us most.


When a girl tells you she`s cold ; don`t be an idiot & say "me too."

I believe that being best friends is part of being in love, & I believe that everyone should get the chance to find a best friend who is also the love of their life.


Love isn`t supposed to be about a moment where you locked into a boys eyes & felt the world spin from beneath your feet ; it`s when you saw in his soul all the things that were missing in yours.


& ultimately, he`s going to find out. How you chew, how you sip, how you dance, how you smell at every point in the day. The fact that most of your friends are shallow. That you hate sitting in an aisle seat. How you don`t really like chocolate, how you get hyper when you travel, how certain games or shows make you really happy. How cranky you get when you`re tired, how you think you look bad in all of your pictures. He`s going to know everything about you. & you know what? He`s still going to love you.


you may not be her first, her last, or her only. she loved before she may love again. but if she loves you now, what else matters? she's not perfect- you aren't either, and the two of you may never be perfect together but if she can make you laugh, cause you to think twice, and admit to being human and making mistakes, hold onto her and give her the most you can. she may not be thinking about you every second of the day, but she will give you a part of her that she knows you can break- her heart. so don't hurt her, don't change her, don't analyze and don't expect more than she can give. smile when she makes you happy, let her know when she makes you mad, and miss her when she's not there.
